Transcript by e-mail
..
Transcript by e-mail is certainly faster than any  mailing or courier method for receiving a transcript copy.  It will let you get started on review of a transcript at least a day or two before you otherwise would be able to.  The transcript would come as an attachment to an e-mail.  After downloading it to your computer, you would be able to review it with Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Lotus, or any other plain-text-document program.
..
A transcript that is simply e-mailed in this form is not, however, a certified transcript for two reasons:  One, it is possible to alter the transcript; and, two, there is no certified signature by the court reporter.  While your reporter can easily snail-mail the original transcript and certificate page to you, there is electronic technology now available to take care of  both of these problems.
.
Electronic Transcript Options
.
E-transcript TM  technology creates an accurate, read-only encrypted and password-protected copy of the certified transcript that can be securely and instantly delivered via e-mail.  An electronic transcript signature through a company such as realLegal.com validates the transcript’s authenticity, providing evidence that the transcript was signed at a specific date and time by a specific person for a specific recipient, and making it a legally admissible signature.
.
Even if your reporter has not purchased software with these capabilities, e-transcripts and legally admissible electronic signatures can be created on a per-transcript basis.  Your reporter can visit realLegal.com for more information on how to provide this service to you.

Recipe of the Month

Rigatoni Pasta Dish

from May 1989 Food & Wine magazine, "Easiest Pasta Sauces"
...
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
3 cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon crushed hot red pepper
1 can (35 oz.) Italian tomatoes, drained and chopped
1/2 cup Calamata black olives, quartered
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 bunches of arugula (or fresh spinach), trimmed and
   coarsely chopped (about 2 cups)
1 pound of rigatoni or gnochetti rigati
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese as accompaniment
.
1. In a large nonreactive skillet, combine oil, garlic and hot pepper.  Cook over low heat until garlic is softened and fragrant, about 3 minutes.  Add tomatoes, olives, salt, and black pepper.  Increase heat to moderately high and simmer until the juices thicken to form a sauce, about 10 minutes.
.
2. Meanwhile, place the arugula in a pasta serving bowl.  Cook the rigatoni in a large pot of boiling salted water until tender but still firm, about 10 minutes.  Drain well and toss with the arugula.  Add the sauce and toss.  Serve with a bowl of Parmesan cheese on the side.
